This work, the Uluru Seating, was created by Shiro Studio, a design firm based in London, UK. It is a modular seating system made of ultra-high-performance concrete.
The designer explained: "I am passionate about creating serene, ergonomic forms that allow people to naturally adopt different postures in different spaces. Public seating should not only provide comfort but also serve as a connection between people and their environment."
The sculptural seatback rises gently from the flat bench surface, creating a natural and comfortable form. When combined, the modular units form a variable-length bench with an undulating silhouette—like a miniature rolling landscape.
More than just seating, this modular system transforms into a playful landscape for recreation. Guided by their natural curiosity, children can explore different positions and postures on the sculptural benches, discovering endless enjoyment.
